From end December 2018, RightShip will increase focus on the operational safety of bulk cape fleet vessels trading to Western Australia.
In addition to the existing vessel-specific assessment, the vetting process will place greater emphasis on evaluation of the operator / DOC fleet history of the identified vessel. If this review identifies a specific vessel, owner or management company that is deemed to pose an elevated risk, then vetting for the relevant vessels will include a manual review.
This review will include greater scrutiny of global vessel performance over the past 36 months (incidents, deficiencies and detentions) as well as that of the vessel operators’ performance.
In effect, this means that the relative historical performance of these operators will now be taken into account in RightShip’s vetting process. Some additional information may be required to determine whether an inspection is necessary.
This process provides more focus on reducing the operational risk for all parties and is based on the detailed incident data we hold for Western Australian ports.
