GHG Rating

RightShip’s GHG Rating is changing. Here’s what you need to know.

RightShip is updating the methodology and design of its GHG Rating to reflect the maritime industry’s evolving environmental, regulatory, and commercial landscape. This changes how we measure the emissions output of vessels on the RightShip platform. View our GHG Rating Change report to learn what’s changing and how it will affect you.

Moving cargo from A to B produces large volumes of Greenhouse gasses (GHGs), with the shipping industry recognised as a significant contributor to climate change. Charterers are facing increased commercial pressure to monitor, manage and reduce emissions across their supply chains.

Charterers use RightShip’s GHG Rating to ensure the most efficient vessels are selected, and supply chain fuel consumption, cost and GHG emissions are reduced.

Adopting policies that remove inefficient vessels from a supply chain can lead to both economic and environmental benefits. RightShip’s GHG Rating changes the way charterers think about vessel selection and mitigate their emissions. Join RightShip today and start using data insights to support emissions reduction strategies, providing you with a tangible way to reach decarbonisation goals.

Features of GHG Rating for Charterers

Simplified decisions

Take the complication out of measuring the relative efficiency of vessels. Our GHG Rating takes inputs from multiple industry standards, data sources and regulatory indices, ensuring best practise environmental vessel selection processes

Transparency
Standardised approach to decarbonisation

Speak the same language as your customers and suppliers by using the GHG Rating, easily understood and used by all players in the industry to decarbonise their supply chain.

Informed selection
Reduce supply chain emissions

Quickly identify vessels standing out from others in their peer group through global and fleet wide benchmarking, allowing you to easily select vessels that will reduce the emissions profile of your company.

Benchmarking

By using more-efficient ships, we are gaining cost efficiencies and furthering our efforts to reduce Mosaic’s carbon footprint. Given the success of GHG Emissions Rating vetting, we are reviewing options to also exclude F-rated vessels. Emissions from shipping currently represent less than 5 percent of Mosaic’s carbon footprint.

GHG Rating advantages

ESG due diligence

Seamlessly integrate our GHG Rating with vessel vetting to align industry emissions reduction targets with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) targets, allowing screening for only the most efficient vessels.

DOC holder insights

Check fleet GHG Rating statistics at a Document of Compliance (DOC) holder level, benchmarked against the world DOC fleet GHG Rating, to ensure your selection process rewards vessel owners and operators who are investing to keep their entire fleet emissions low.

Leading the industry

Lead the industry towards lower emission targets through our GHG Rating by rewarding shipowners who invest in energy efficiency upgrades and vessel design, and put maritime on a path to a zero-harm maritime environment.
