RightShip begins expansion into the Japanese maritime market

RightShip is focused on expanding its presence in critical markets that have previously been accessible, particularly within the APAC Region. Here, RightShip Head of APAC Sau Weng Tang explains why this is an essential component of our strategic growth.

RightShip has now been operational in Singapore for more than 18 months and in that time, we have done a great deal of further research into strategic growth. As a result, we are making a new investment into Japan, which we see as an exciting proposition.

We have appointed a key RightShip representative Yamada-san based in Japan and he is responsible to service our customers in Japan and also building and reinforcing relationships with key stakeholders in the Japan maritime industries.

Yamada san graduated from Kobe University in Maritime Science and thereafter sailed as a deck officer onboard VLCC tankers, LNG tankers and car carriers.

Yamada san later came ashore and joined a vessel owner and manager company in the safety management division who manages a fleet of bulk carriers, wood chip carriers and car carriers. His recent role is Manager of the Safety Management Division with overall responsibility in audit, inspection/vetting, training, customer satisfaction for the company’s fleet of vessels.

Japan is a thriving cluster due to its ship owning, ship building and various port-based activities. There is also a strong finance sector spanning trading, insurance, broking, and legal activities..

In addition, Japan is leading the way in terms of maritime decarbonisation. This requires significant innovation and involves a commitment to decarbonising its supply chain activities to develop carbon neutral vessels by 2030. A key component of this involves future fuel and infrastructure innovation.

RightShip look forward to working together with key stakeholders to contribute to Japan’s commitment to a bright maritime future
