Pilot ladder incidents remain a serious concern in the maritime industry, with poorly constructed or improperly secured ladders contributing to injuries and fatalities. PTR Holland’s safety-first approach focuses on providing equipment that meets the challenges of real-world conditions—helping ship operators and crews improve both compliance and peace of mind.
Purpose-Built Solutions for Safer Transfers
PTR Holland’s solutions are designed to support safer, more stable pilot transfer operations. Their products include:
- Pilot & Embarkation Rope Ladders: Essential for safe boarding and disembarking, these ladders are built using non-slip hardwood steps and durable manila or polypropylene ropes. Designed for strength and reliability, they ensure secure access in even the most challenging sea conditions.
- Magnetic Ladder Securing Devices: These specialised magnets secure pilot ladders to a vessel’s hull, improving stability during boarding and reducing the risk of movement or dislodgement due to sea state or ship motion.
- SPT-928 Ladder Securing System: A class-approved solution that uses high-strength suction cups to secure ladders, even on chipped or rough hull surfaces. The system is compliant with new SOLAS regulations and offers added stability—especially on high freeboard vessels.
These solutions are engineered not just for compliance, but to actively reduce operational risk—enhancing both pilot and crew safety.
