A Product Range Inspired by Science and the Sea

Nippon Paint Marine’s product range showcases the application of biomimetics and advanced polymer science to solve real-world maritime challenges. Their coatings are developed by a multidisciplinary R&D team drawing insights from marine biology, chemistry, and fluid dynamics—translating nature’s design into hull protection and energy savings.

• AQUATERRAS® is a biocide-free, self-polishing coating that uses hydrophilic and hydrophobic micro-domains to repel biological adhesion. Inspired by anti-thrombogenic medical materials, it offers sustainable antifouling protection while supporting biodiversity and reducing GHG emissions.
