Purnima
"I believe in the power of equity and inclusivity. The best ideas come from the most unexpected places. When people are given the care to be heard, there will always be change for the better in leaps and bounds."
With a childhood spent on the move living in Nigeria, Thailand, the Netherlands, Japan, and the UK and experience working in a mix of regional and global roles in India and Singapore, Purnima knows what it is to be the ‘new girl’. Drawing on these varied life experiences allows her to put herself in the shoes of colleagues and employees helping them to feel welcome and at home – a major part of her empathetic style of management.

After gaining a Masters in International Employment Relations and Human Resource Management at the London School of Economics (LSE), Purnima spent six years honing her talents creating high-performing work cultures and driving efficiency and agility in large, cross-industry, highly matrixed and global organisations. Roles at Accenture followed by commodity giants BHP and Cargill led Purnima to continue her travels around the world, spending more time in India and then Singapore taking on a variety of stretching and varied talent management, people and culture, and strategic business partnering roles.

Purnima joined RightShip in 2022, which she describes as having the excitement and initiative of a start-up, backed with the confidence of established industry giants.

She’s already begun to make an impact, and in an organisation that has plans to double in size over the next few years, she’s keen to take on the challenges presented by managing people functions in a global setting. Purnima always maintains a keen focus on her passions: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) fostering a resilient growth-mindset across the organisation. She’s looking forward to addressing the specific maritime challenges of diversity of gender and generations in the workforce as a part of her role.
