Customer Information Asset Register

Customer Data: Collection, Usage, and Access

  1. Summary

The Customer Information Asset Register (CIAR) is a key component of RightShip’s data governance framework, ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible data handling. It provides an overview of customer data collected, its classification, and how it is used in RightShip’s business.

RightShip classifies customer data into Business Data, which is essential for delivering core services and is subject to implicit consent, and Business Sensitive Data, which requires explicit customer approval for identifiable use. This classification ensures data is handled appropriately while supporting operational needs and compliance obligations.

RightShip may also use aggregated and anonymized data as it deems appropriate to develop and enhance products and services that align with its mission of zero harm to the maritime industry. Such data use helps drive insights, industry standards, and safety improvements while ensuring no individual customer or entity is identifiable.

The CIAR is intended to be a living document, subject to updates as new products, processes, and industry needs evolve. While we strive to maintain accuracy and completeness, there may be omissions or adjustments over time. RightShip reserves the right to modify the CIAR and will engage customers where necessary before making significant changes.

For any inquiries regarding the CIAR or to clarify any omissions, customers are encouraged to contact RightShip at ciar@rightship.com. For a more comprehensive understanding of RightShip’s data collection, processing, and usage principles, this document should be read alongside the Customer Data Usage Policy (made available on request via an email to ciar@rightship.com).

  2. Data Usage Purpose

RightShip aspires to contribute towards zero harm in the maritime world, where customers trust us with their data to help them achieve their safety and sustainability objectives. Together, we lead the industry with the most trusted ESG insights, driving meaningful progress towards a safer, more sustainable future. We commit to handling customer data responsibly and ethically. Every piece of data we collect is used exclusively to advance our goals of achieving zero harm, enhancing maritime safety and sustainability, and delivering trusted ESG insights.

  3. Data Classification Framework

RightShip categorizes customer data into two key classifications to ensure clarity on its use, sharing, and protection. The specific datasets categorized as Business Data and Business Sensitive Data are transparently recorded in this CIAR. The process for the collection, storage, processing and usage of the data according to its sensitivity classification is captured in detail in the customer data usage policy.

    3.1 Business Data

Business Data refers to the assets and attributes necessary for RightShip to deliver core services to our customers. By providing this data, customers give implicit consent for its use, including internal processing and storage, controlled third-party sharing where required to deliver services and integration into new products and services aligned with RightShip’s mission.

    3.2 Business Sensitive Data

Business Sensitive Data includes customer data that is critical to their competitive position and is handled with the highest level of confidentiality and security. We will only disclose this data based on explicit consent, which can be intended for specific customers or globally.

  4. Product-Specific Data Classification

The sections below provide a high-level, product-wise overview of what is considered Business Data and Business Sensitive Data by RightShip in relation to the various data points collected from our customers.
