RightShip is pleased to welcome KCC Corporation as the latest participant in our Zero Harm Innovation Partners Program, strengthening a shared commitment to supporting safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible maritime operations.
KCC Corporation is a coatings manufacturer with a global presence, operating manufacturing facilities across Asia and other international markets. With experience in marine coatings and performance-related technologies, KCC develops solutions that support vessel efficiency, durability, and regulatory compliance throughout the ship lifecycle.
KCC Corporation joined RightShip’s Zero Harm Innovation Partners Program to contribute to the maritime industry’s decarbonisation efforts by advancing technologies that enhance vessel energy efficiency and long-term hull performance in alignment with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations.
As regulatory frameworks such as EEXI and CII place increasing emphasis on emissions reduction and operational efficiency, hull performance has become an important factor in supporting compliance and reducing environmental impact.
As part of the Program, KCC is showcasing MetaCruise NS, an antifouling coating developed to address operational challenges such as hull fouling, performance degradation over extended service periods, and efficiency losses during idle time.
MetaCruise NS integrates a foul-release silicone polymer, an amphiphilic surface structure, and nano-capsule-based biocide release control technology. These combined mechanisms are designed to reduce frictional resistance, stabilise antifouling performance, and support consistent vessel speed over time. By maintaining hull efficiency, the solution contributes to reduced fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions.
The development of MetaCruise NS reflects the need to respond to stricter emissions regulations and growing expectations for sustainable vessel operations. By supporting long-term hull performance, the coating aims to assist shipowners in managing energy efficiency ratings while maintaining reliable operational performance throughout the vessel’s service life.
Through participation in the Zero Harm Innovation Partners Program, KCC Corporation aims to demonstrate how advanced antifouling technologies can support safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible vessel operations.
Collaboration across the maritime industry is essential to achieving progress toward a zero-harm future. By bringing together practical innovation and shared sustainability goals, partnerships like this help support continuous improvement across vessel performance, safety, and environmental responsibility.
We are pleased to welcome KCC Corporation to the RightShip Zero Harm Innovation Partners Program and look forward to working together to support the industry’s transition toward safer and more sustainable operations.
If your innovation has the potential to redefine the maritime industry, we invite you to submit your application and become part of a global movement towards a safer, greener future.
